Malo E Lelei everyone,
For the past few weeks we had to make music. We had to make music to match a scene from Finding Dory. So here is what I have come up with.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 7 and in 2021 I will be a year 8. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Hey everyone,
For hurumanu 3 we have been learning about persuasive writing. I chose to write about "Online learning should continue"
Do you want to see people die? If not, online learning needs to continue. I will be talking about my 3 points, they are how much germs children spread in one day, That you can still do work at home and lastly is how doing work at school is the same as at home.
If you’re sick you can still do work at home. When you go to school and come in contact with other children you spread 152,300 germs in one day. Germs spread really fast around the school especially touching common objects that other people touch. When you sit next to people, you spread germs around. Lastly when you touch things that haven’t cleaned, you pick up other people's germs.
Being sick can be dangerous because when you’re in public you are so close to each other. But online learning you can do work and talk to your teacher on zoom or google meet. There are also websites that your teacher can send to you. The Government sends chromebooks to children that don’t have chromebooks so you don’t have to worry. When you do your work but you don’t understand you can just email your teacher and ask.
Working online is the same as working at school because whatever you need to work on it’s on the websites that your teacher gives you. The activities that you're given are the same as the one’s at school. If you want to show your teacher your work, you can share it while on call. Online learning is a really great idea because they can still learn and spend time with family. Even if children stay home, they can still develop and learn heaps.
Now you can see that online learning should continue. It will mean that you can’t spread germs and also still do school work at home. I really think that online learning should continue because I wouldn’t want to see people suffer. Staying at home will reduce the amount of cases in the world. Online learning is really good because you can do work and ask your parents for help if you don’t have the confidence to talk to your teacher. Staying at home will prevent you and your friends from getting the virus.
That's all for today...BYE!!! Hope you enjoyed it.

Genre: Article
List the Author/s and Illustrator/s of the text:
Pat Quinn
Replace The Words But Keep The Meaning
The following sentence comes from the text. Your job is to rearrange/add in/replace some of the words with other words you know. Make sure the original meaning of the sentence stays the same.
"Now that the cost of petrol has risen over the years, and the air is becoming polluted with fumes, a steam powered car could be the car of the future."
Now that the cost of gas has gone up, and the air is polluted with chemicals, a steam powered car of the future.
Would you buy one?
Would you own and drive a steam powered car? Why/why not?
I would ot own one because it would be too slow if you're in a rush and if you crash it,it would be so expensive.
This article is about an amazing steam powered car, and what it’s made out of. It is also about how it is operated and how to fix it if it’s broken.
What are the pluses and minuses to the steam powered car?
Pluses: The brothers would drive side by side in two cars through town. They were an impressive sight with their matching beards.
Minuses: They refuse to advertise their car print. Byers had to pay all the money in cash- no down payments or deposits we accepted.

Hi everyone,
Today we have done a experiment with water and the Bunsen burner.
Aim: To demonstrate how to heat a liquid inside a test tube.
Equipment: Bunsen Burner,Heatproof mat,Lighter,Test tube,Test tube tongs,Safety gasses.
Method:
1. Light the Bunsen Burner.
2. Fill you test tube to approximately 5ml water.
3. Turn the collar at the Bunsen burner so it's a blue flame
4. Holding the test tube with test tube tongs, tilt the test tube on a 45 degree angle and place the bottom of the tube into the FlameEnsure that the mouth of the tube is not pointing towards anyone.
5. Gently wave the test tube in and out of the flame. Remember you are trying to heat the liquid gently.
6. Once the water starts to gently bubly, take it away from the flame. carefully pour the hot water into the sink.
Questions:
1. explain why it is important that the test tube is held at 45 degrees? It's important to hold the test tube 45 degrees because if you keep it in one place it will urn the test tube.
2. Suggest why the test tube is moved I and out of the flame instead of keeping in in one place? I think because it will get too hot.
