Jellie park is a fun place to go to because it’s really hot some days. You can just go there and spend time with your family and have a BBQ.

At Jellie Park there is a really big slide called the hydro slide and there are little slides too.  Some areas of the pool are really deep especially for short people and little kids.

Jellie park can be a bit weird because there are going to be people there and they're gonna stare at you. You should be very careful when you are walking beside the pool because you might fall in.

Margaret Mahy Playground is named after a lady called Margaret Mahy, The reason why its named after is because she is an inspiring author for children’s books. 

Margaret Mahy wrote more than 100 books. Margaret Mahy also worked at Christchurch city libraries and she is one of the world's best and most famous children’s authors. She worked as a librarian for over 10 years.

Margaret Mahy was born and raised in Whakatane, she was the eldest of five children. Her father (a bridge builder) told stories and read to his children. Her mother was a teacher.

Margaret Mahy is New Zealand’s most celebrated writer for children and young adults. In a 55-year career she published more than 120 titles.  Margaret Mahy has made different kinds of books like novels, fantasies and more.

Translated into more than 15 languages, her books reflect her delight in fantasy, magic,adventure, humour, the supernatural and the trans-formative power of language.

Egg drop challenge

Today we have done a egg drop challenge. We started this yesterday, We started making our creations. We made our creation out of Popsicle sticks,Rubbish bag, Sticks,Tape,little soft square things and also string.

Our egg cracked  little bit cause it fell out of the little box we made out of the little soft things. I think if it stayed in the little box it would have survived.  I think if we covered it more it would've survived.

Our idea for the creation was to make a pyramid and put the egg in the middle. There was a big whole in the middle so we put Popsicle sticks all around the big whole.

Today we are talking about Gravity.  This week we have been learning about mars.  Here are the question about gravity.

Is gravity strong on other planets?

The gravity on Jupiter is better than on earth because Jupiter is bigger.

How is gravity related to mass?

A bigger planet with mass will have stronger mass.

Say you will weigh 30 ad you went to Uranus it will feel like you weigh 27.6. because you have so much weight on you. 

How would your life be different if you lived with higher gravity or low gravity?

I think is would be different because you wouldn't be able to walk around but you can fly around.

Mars Rover

Today I am going to be telling you guys what I have been doing for Hurumanu 3. Here it is....

Mars rover 2020

Mars rover goes all the way to mars. It launched on july 30th 2020, and it's gonna land on Feb 18th 2021.

Scientists use two vehicles to go to mars which is a Helicopter and a little buggy. Mars 2020 Perseverance rover is based on Curiosity's design. 

 The Perseverance rover will seek signs of ancient life and collect rock and soil samples for possible return to Earth.

3 things that I learned was they launched 2 vehicles. that it was already launched. the mars perseverance rover is based on curiosity's design.

Holiday

Hello everyone,

Today I am going to be telling you guys what I have been doing in the holiday.

In the holiday I went on a cruise in the middle of nowhere. Once we found an area to stop we got hot. We got changed into our swimming togs, And as soon as we finished we ran and jumped into the ocean. It was so nice and cold. It was so nice and relaxing that I didn't even want to get out. 

The next day we woke up to heaps of breakfast there was Waffles , Pancakes, strawberry's and Hot chocolate. After breakfast we went into a room full of activities. I chose to make bracelets. At night we went down to the restaurant and had dinner. Then the next day we went back home. 

Market day

Today I am going to be telling you guys what we have done for  market day yesterday. My group and I made Poly foods such as Chop suey, Pani keke, Fry bread and Otai. Our business was a success because  most of the food were almost sold out. 

We made $170 profit. 3 things I Learned from B & E was that it's when you have too much customers. Some items sell out fast. It's hard to work alone. I would change how close the company's were. One thing that I liked about market day was that our food was selling out fast.

How Do Bees Make Honey?

Hi,

Today we have been learning about How bees make honey. Here is my information about Bees.

How do bees make honey?

Bees go around the world and visit 8 million flowers to make honey.

First  bees pollinate 3 quarters of fruit, veggies and nuts. When they find flowers they  dive in and slurp the nectar. They need  at least 1000 flowers so they can slurp the nectar and make honey. One bee hive has 50kg’s of Honey.

Next they go around the world and look for flowers to slurp their nectar. When they get back  to the hive they vomit it into other bees. While the nectar is in their stomach it turns into little broken pieces.  They collect nectar as much as possible.

Thirdly after they vomit in other workers they put it in a honeycomb and cover it with wax to keep it secure. Bees go around the world to find heaps of flowers  to collect nectar. Some bees aren’t that big so they don’t get that much nectar. The more nectar they get the more honey there's gonna be.

Honey is sweeter than candy, You should go and try some.

Chocolate chip cookies

Hi everyone,

Today I am going to be showing you guys what I have made at cooking class. Yesterday we stated making the dough. Today we actually made the cookies. We had to roll the dough into little balls. Add had to bake them for 9 mins.

 The cookies taste so yum and its so soft. It smells like butter and smells like vanilla. The  middle of it is soft and the outside is crispy but when its cold it might get a little hard. It looks like a normal cookie but in my opinion it looks and taste better than the cookies you buy from the shop.

Here is the ingredients...

Ingredients

• 1/4 c sugar (50g) 
• 6T or 100g margarine or butter
• 2T condence milk
• 1T bakinng powder
• 1c Flour
• 1t Essence (may vary with flavour used
• 1/4c of inclusions 

Method

1. Preheat oven to bake 180 degrees/c
2. Cream butter (room temperture) and sugar together in a large bowl.
3. To the creamed mixture add the condensed milk and beat with wooden spoon. Add the Essence.
4. Sift the flour and the baking powder. Add to the mixture. Mix.
5. Add your inclusions to the dough.Mix gently.
6. Use a teaspoon to scoop out the dough (25g - 30g)
7. Roll into balls using the palms o you hands.
8. Place on baking tray. press down with a fork or palm of your hand flatten dough slightly.
9. Bake 180 degrees for 10 to 15 mins or fan bake for 170 degrees

Drama (Freeze frame and thought tracking and Script Detective)

Today We have learned about Script detective. We have been reading a new book it is called Benny. We have been drawing pictures,The pictures that we drew we had to fold into 6 squares. We have also been learning about ice berg. Ice berg is when you write on top what people see in you. At the bottom that's where you write  thing that people don't know. We have decided to be the mother. 

What is a picture dictation?

The teacher describes a picture, or sequence of pictures, to students who draw what they hear.

What is Role on the wall?

Role on the wall is a strategy that invites students to infer meaning about a character.

What is an Iceberg?

an ice berg is like your body so like the top is what people see and the bottom is what people don't know about you.

What is hot seating?

Hot seating is when you sit ad people ask you questions and if you answer with 1 word that means it's a finishing answer.

Quarantine/Lockdown

Hi everyone.

Today I am going to be telling guys what will affect me. So if the prime minister Jacaranda Arden decides to move from level 3 to level 2 will be happy because I get to go to school to all my friends and also the amazing teachers. I will also love it because I can visit my family in Auckland.  I can also go shopping with my family. Here are photos of  2 people that I like going to school with I also  I miss them.
